Whew!

http://www.ijreview.com/2012/09/15997-bloombergs-crusade-begins-nyc-soda-ban-to-take-effect/

What a relief. Mayor Bloomberg is on the job.

I am sure this is done for our own good. What a gutsy mayor. He must not have enough to do. What with murder, drugs, abuse/neglect and a host of other things Mayor Bloomberg has time to make our choices for us regarding drinking soda.

Is this why people can't think for themselves anymore? Dependency on government is rampant and this shows the attitude of liberals - "We know what's best for you." This will not make one bit of difference in the weight problem of the people of New York or anywhere else.

How do these people get elected and often re-elected?

  1. We are doomed! What a bunch of sheep. (But then, Jesus said that about the generation in which He lived 2,000 years ago...)

    1. We can slow down our decline but I believe it is inevitable that the ignorant and dependent win. That's why our government wants so many people dependent on government programs. They are creating a permanent majority that will keep voting them in so as not to lose the handout. Take care.

  2. What's funny is I am for reduced federal (and mostly local) government intervention. But... If businesses are going to continue to disregard the public health for the sake of the dollar and people seem to be getting stupider by the day... I dunno. I have mixed feelings about this.

    1. I think one of our big problems is that we have separated consequences from behavior. Stupid people are not going to be swayed by a law. This law will not keep anyone who wants to drink more soda from doing so. The public health is disregarded in many ways. It's people who have to make wise choices. Parents are at fault both for letting their kids eat in an unhealthy manner and for setting a poor example themselves. Be careful out there today.

  3. This is absolutely terrifying stuff. As a self-proclaimed 'freedom freak', I just about lost it when I saw this yesterday. I don't need a government babysitter. I believe in natural consequences.
And I also believe the backlash that has been long in coming will eventually come and it will be big. America has always been exceptional and I think that we will never give up so easily, to become government serfs.
Let's teach our kids all about the frog that boils slowly in the pot....
    NEVER GIVE UP!

    1. It will never end if government can dictate what and how much we eat. "A government that is big enough to give us everything we want is big enough to take everything we have." If Obama gets re-elected they will have their permanent majority by the end of his second term and we will be a picture of Europe with the same consequences as their collapsed economies but that is his goal - the economy collapses and the government takes over and then everyone is either working for the government or dependent on the government. I have even read that GM (government motors) is on the verge of needing another bail out. It is terrifying stuff. Take care.
