Are We Impulsive?

Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together. -- Vincent Van Gogh

Won't it be great when we reach our goal weight? What series of small things are you bringing together for your own great-ness? These are things to be done for the rest of our lives because we want to keep the weight off, don't we? DON'T WE????

Here are some things that I can think of off the top of my head -

Drinking 8 glasses of water a day - I think some people get a little carried away with the water thing - let's stay realistic - if we want to drink more - great but let's not set the bar too high on a daily basis.

Exercise 3 times a week - if you are like me, if I start missing or overeating - I quit ALL the good stuff - I overeat completely; I don't exercise at all - if we want to exercise more - great - but let's get the minimum in on a weekly basis - and let's define exercise - it is movement - a long walk, a bicycle ride, some hiking. Find a friend; this really helps. I have a friend that goes to step aerobics with me-there have been mornings I wouldn't have gone had she not been waiting on me to pick her up - start a walking group at the high school track -
it's hard to keep up the count of laps correctly - pick up four rocks at the outset and throw one down each time around - all of you will have walked a mile and the talking is bound to work off some extra calories.

A good start to lasting weight loss is the 8 glasses of water a day and exercising 3 - 5 times a week. Wear a pedometer and make the goal 10,000 steps per day. My mom has always kept a healthy weight - she doesn't eat after 6 p.m. This is a behavioral change as is only eating at the table that will work for us all. Notice
we haven't talked about an eating plan? Will one be necessary if we do these other things? Changing what we eat will work. Don't have potatoes for supper, have two vegetables rather than one. There are great sugar free products for desserts.

Janice Taylor says when you want to binge - go ahead - on vegetables, she said she turned herself orange once eating so many carrots. I am reading this book now. I recommend it. Did you read the post from a couple of days ago on Emotional Eating? It has to be read a few times to really get what it means.

The night eating - please read The Night Lie from March if you haven't already - OK - my night time snack is almonds - raw, whole - that's all. I often have my cup of senna blend tea at that time. If you have trouble with constipation, this is great. Senna tea is quite the laxative so be careful. I have a coffee press that holds about 4 cups - I put one senna tea bag (the digestion blends have it in them- one is called smooth move :-) - I also add a green tea bag, and a spiced chai or some other flavor I like - I brew this and will get about 3 mugs so I have three days of tea - I add stevia and a little creamer and it is really good. One mug a day and no worries!

REMEMBER - prayer changes things. It will change you.

I just had a call from a Charity asking me to donate some of my clothes to the starving people throughout the world.

I told them to kiss my %##.
Anybody who fits into my clothes ain't starving.

  1. Another home run award to you for THIS one, Myra. Except for a few parts I couldn't read because they were "outside the box" (ha ha), I was inspired to pay attention to the little things today.

That last little "funny" was hilarious! Well...sad, really :)

And the Van Gogh quote was as good as any of his paintings!
